My research is in the field of process systems engineering with particular expertise in process optimization, energy systems, and multi-scale analysis. I am especially interested in problems related to surrogate models (a.k.a. reduced order models, metamodels). Surrogate models often appear in multi-scale systems, where information needs to be passed across different length and time-scales. My work lies at the boundary of engineering, applied math, operations research, and machine learning. Broadly speaking, we seek to propose new computational methods that enable new capabilities in modeling and optimization of engineering systems.
